Course Description

Ideas are necessary for innovation, but to turn your ideas into something real, you need to build a prototype on paper for new services. Your team will be able to pitch the idea to senior executives with a clear customer proposition, provide directions for how it will be marketed, develop a detailed map of how the solution will work for customers, ensure it is differentiated, design the business system and estimate the financial impact with a reverse income statement. Develop your business case with the templates and pitch to your CEO or funders.

Note: This course is best taken after you have done the 'Generate creative solutions with ideation' course.

In this short course, learn how to -

  • Turn your ideas into a tangible product or service that can be built and tested
  • Create a 'quick pitch' and a clear customer value proposition that helps clarify the market and benefit of the solution
  • Design how the solution will work from a consumer point of view
  • Check to ensure the solution is sufficiently differentiated (different from competitors in a useful way)
  • Design an integrated business system that supports the deliver of those benefits to customers - identifying the technical requirements, resources and systems required to deliver it in the real world
  • Develop a 'reverse income statement' that draws on your market definitions and fleshes out the financial case for investment in your great product or service - vital to pitch for your organisation's seed funding (or to a philanthropic funder)

Included resources -

  • 28 minutes of video instruction
  • YouLead innovation prototype kit
  • Easy-to-use templates in editable Microsoft Powerpoint so you can follow along on the prototype development process and document the solution for internal or external audiences and seed funders
